Create your account

You'll need two things to start using Root:

  1. Root client software
  2. Root user account

Install the client software first, then create your account directly in the client.

What is a Root account?​

A Root user account is your identity on Root. It holds your information like email address, profile picture, password, etc. Everyone needs an active account to use Root.

How to create an account​

Here are the steps to create a user account:

  1. Start the Root application.
  2. Select Register.
  3. Enter your username:
    • Must be unique across Root.
    • Must be between 3-20 characters and may only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and/or periods.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Enter and confirm your password.
    • Must be at least eight characters, have at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character.
  6. Select Register to complete the registration process. You'll be logged in and ready to go.
