All permissions

Every permission in Root, organized by category.

Permissions marked Administrative (✓) are powerful: they let members change community settings, manage other members, delete others' content, or control voice channels. Grant them only to people you trust.

Be careful when granting administrative permissions. Members with these permissions can significantly impact your community.

Community

These permissions control community-wide administrative actions.

Community Full Control	Grants every permission. Overrules channel and channel group permission settings.	✓
Manage Community	Update the community's name, description, color, image, and system messages channel.	✓
View Action Log	View a record of logged member actions.	✓
Manage Apps	Create, update, and delete apps.	✓
Manage Emojis	Add, edit, and remove the community's custom emojis.	✓

Members

These permissions control member management and invitations.

Permission	Description	Administrative
Invite Users	Allows members to invite new users to the community.
Manage Roles	Create, update, delete, and assign roles.	✓
Kick Member	Remove members from the community.	✓
Create Bans	Ban members from the community for a set or infinite amount of time.	✓
Manage Bans	Ban and unban community members. View and edit current bans.	✓
Manage Invites	View, create, and revoke community invitations.	✓

Manage Roles can't grant more than you have

Manage Roles only works within the permissions you already hold. When you create or edit a role, any permission you don't have yourself is grayed out, and you can only assign a role if you already have every permission it grants. So a member with Manage Roles but not Community Full Control can't grant the Admin role, or hand out any permission they don't have, to anyone (including themselves).

Becoming the community owner is separate: it isn't a role, and it only moves through Transfer ownership.

Channels

These permissions control channel creation and management.

Channel Full Control	Grants all channel permissions. Allows editing or deleting channels.	✓
Create Channel Groups	Create channel groups.	✓

Messages

These permissions control what members can do with messages in text channels.

Permission	Description	Administrative
Send Messages	Create, edit, and delete your own messages.
Attach Files	Include files in your messages.
Use Global Mentions	Use global mentions such as @all and @here in your messages.
View History	View messages in a channel that were sent before the date you joined the community.
Add Reactions	Add reactions to messages. Remove reactions that you added.
Use External Emojis	Use custom emojis from other communities.
Delete Messages	Delete messages by other members.	✓
Manage Pinned Messages	Pin or unpin messages.	✓

Files

These permissions control file and directory access in channels.

Permission	Description	Administrative
View Files	View files and directories.
Upload Files	Upload, view, and delete your files and directories. View others' files and directories.
Manage Files	View, create, and delete files and directories. Update file and directory names.	✓

Voice and Video

These permissions control voice and video chat capabilities.

Stream Audio	Use voice chat.
Stream Video	Use video chat and screen sharing.
Mute Microphones	Prevent a member from talking in voice channels.	✓
