Invite people to a community

Bring people in with a direct invite or a link anyone can use.

Invite a friend

Send a direct invitation to someone on your Root friends list.

Required permissions
  • Invite Users
  1. Right-click the community icon in the community sidebar.
  2. Select Invite members.
  3. Find the friend you want to invite in the list.
  4. Select Invite.

Your friend receives a notification and can accept or decline the invitation.

You can also share a link that anyone can use to join.

The first time you open the invite screen, Root creates a link that expires after 7 days with no usage limit. After that it shows you a link you already have, choosing the one that lasts longest. So the link you see won't always be a fresh 7 day one. Check the line under the link, which tells you in plain words when it runs out, such as "Your invite link expires in 6 days" or "Your invite link never expires."

You can change the expiry and usage limit at any time, or generate a new link.
