Add and remove friends

Add friends to quickly find people and see when they're online.

Send a friend request

Desktop

1. Select the Friends icon (person silhouette) in the user tray (top-right of the window).
2. Select the Add friend icon (person with plus).
3. Enter the person's username (or part of it) into the search box.
4. Locate the person in the results.
5. Select Request.

Mobile

1. Tap Friends in the bottom navigation.
2. Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass) at the top right.
3. Enter the person's username (or part of it) into the Find friends box.
4. Locate the person under Find new friends.
5. Tap Request.

Type at least two characters before results appear. Anyone you are already friends with shows at the top of the results, and people you can add are listed below under Find new friends.

You can also add someone straight from their profile. Tap their avatar in a community member list or a text channel, then tap the Add friend icon (person with plus) in the row of icons under their name.

Accept or decline a friend request

Desktop

1. Select the Notifications icon (bell) in the user tray (top-right of the window).
2. Filter by Friend requests to see incoming requests.
3. Select Accept or Decline on each request.

Mobile

1. Tap Notifications in the bottom navigation.
2. Optionally, tap the Friend requests filter at the top of the screen.
3. Locate the friend request notification.
4. Tap Accept or Decline.

Remove a friend

Desktop

1. Select the Friends icon (person silhouette) in the user tray (top-right of the window).
2. Right-click the friend you want to remove.
3. Select Remove friend.
4. Confirm by selecting Remove.

Mobile

1. Tap Friends in the bottom navigation.
2. Tap the friend's name.
3. Scroll to User actions.
4. Tap Remove friend.
5. Confirm by tapping Remove.

Message or call a friend from their profile

On mobile, a friend's profile has a row of icons under their name that let you reach them without leaving the Friends tab.

Desktop

Select the Friends icon (person silhouette) in the user tray, then select a friend to open their conversation.

Mobile

1. Tap Friends in the bottom navigation.
2. Tap the friend's name to open their profile.
3. Tap one of the icons under their name:

Icon	What it does
Phone	Starts a voice call with them
Chat bubble	Opens your conversation, or starts one if you have not messaged before
Person with plus	Sends a friend request (only shows if you are not friends yet)

The icon row does not appear on your own profile or on the profile of an app or bot.
