Delete your account

Permanently delete your Root account and all associated data.

warning

Deleting your account cannot be undone.

Transfer before you delete

If you own any communities, you must transfer ownership before you can delete your account. See Transfer community ownership.

You do not have to check this yourself. If you still own a community, Root stops you with a You're a community owner! message explaining that you need to transfer ownership first.

Delete your account

  1. Select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select User profile.
  4. Select Delete account.
  5. Enter your password.
  6. Select Delete account to confirm.

Confirming it is you

Before deleting the account, Root checks it is really you. On mobile, what you are asked for depends on how your account is set up.

How you sign inWhat you are asked
Password onlyA Delete account box reading "To continue, type in your password below:". Enter it and tap Continue.
Password and passkeysA Verify identity step first, asking you to choose Use password or Use passkey.
Passkeys onlyYour device's own passkey prompt, using your fingerprint, face, or device PIN. No password is asked for.

If the password is wrong, Root says "Incorrect password. Please try again." and you can have another go.
