Pin messages

Pin an important message in a channel so it stays easy to find.

What are pinned messages?

Pinned messages are messages kept in their own list so everyone in the channel can find them again. Use them for information people need often: rules, a shared link, or a decision the group made.

Pinning needs the Manage Pinned Messages permission, so not everyone in a channel can pin. Anyone can read the pinned list.

Pinned messages also carry a pinned tag under the message itself, so you can see one has been pinned while scrolling.

Pin a message

Desktop

1. Hover over the message you want to pin.
2. Select the Pin icon (pushpin) in the message actions, or right-click the message and select Pin message.

Mobile

1. Press and hold the message you want to pin.
2. Tap Pin message.

Unpin a message

Desktop

1. Hover over the pinned message.
2. Select the Unpin icon (pushpin) in the message actions, or right-click the message and select Unpin message.

Mobile

1. Press and hold the pinned message.
2. Tap Unpin message.

View pinned messages

Desktop

1. Open the channel.
2. Open the channel details and select Pinned messages.
3. Select a message to jump to it in the channel.

Mobile

1. Tap the channel name at the top to open the channel details.
2. Tap Pinned messages.
3. Tap a message to jump to it in the channel.
4. Or press and hold a pinned message, then select Jump to message or Unpin message without opening the channel first.

If nothing has been pinned yet, the list reads "Nothing to see here" with a prompt to pin some messages and check back later.
