Share files and images
Share files, images, and other media right in a text channel.
Upload a file
- Desktop
- Mobile
- Select the Attach icon (paperclip) in the message field.
- Choose the file from your computer.
- Optionally, add a message.
- Press Enter to send.
You can also drag and drop files directly into the message field.
- Tap the Attach icon (paperclip) in the message field.
- Pick a photo from the grid of recent photos, or tap Camera to take a new one, or Files to browse your files.
- Optionally, add a message.
- Tap the Send icon (paper airplane).
Drag the sheet upwards to see more. The expanded view is headed Add attachment and has a View library button for browsing all your photos.
You can attach up to 10 items to one message. Past that, Root shows "Cannot add more attachments. Max limit - 10."
Take and share a photo

This feature is not available on desktop. Upload photos from your computer using the Attach icon (paperclip).
- Tap the Attach icon (paperclip) in the message field.
- Tap Camera.
- Take a photo.
- Tap Use Photo to attach it.
- If prompted, choose whether to allow Root to save the photo to your photo library. The photo is attached to your message regardless of your choice.
- Optionally, add a message.
- Tap the Send icon (paper airplane).
View shared files

Images display as previews in the chat. Select an image to view it full-size.
Files display with a download icon. Select the file name to download it.
Images display as thumbnails. Tap to view full-size.
Files display with a download option. Tap to download or open.
Save or copy an image
- Desktop
- Mobile
Select an image to open it full-size, then use the download option to save it.
- Press and hold the image or video in the message.
- Choose what you want to do:
- Copy puts the image on your clipboard.
- Copy link copies a link to it instead.
- Open link opens it outside Root.
- To save it to your device, tap the download icon (downward arrow). To send it to another app, tap the share icon.
Root confirms with Copied to clipboard. or Copied link to clipboard. when you copy.
The same download and share options appear along the bottom when you tap an image to view it full-size.
